What does my placement score mean?127 views

Your placement assessment score is a number between 0 and 100. This score shows the percentage of math topics you have already mastered, as identified by ALEKS (the math placement system). Your ALEKS score—along with your program of study—determines which math course you should take.

You’ll receive your score report at the end of the test, and it will also be available online within 24 to 48 hours after you finish.

Because math requirements vary depending on your major, degree, certificate, or transfer goals, it’s important to talk with an academic advisor during new student orientation or before registering for classes. They can help you choose the math course that best fits your academic and career plans.

Your math placement score is valid for two years. If you do not start your first math course within that time, you’ll need to retake the ALEKS assessment before enrolling in math again.

Once you’ve enrolled in a math course at ECC, you can only retake the placement test if you earn an A grade in that course. If you return to ECC after several years, you may continue your math sequence or request to retake the placement test by appealing through the Academic Advising office.

If you use assistive technology or need accommodations for testing, please contact the Student Access and Disabilities Services Office before your scheduled assessment so we can ensure your testing experience is accessible and supportive.
