Do students have to tell their instructors about their disability or share their disability documentation?188 views

disability test

No. You are not required to share your disability documentation with your instructors. In fact, instructors should not ask for copies of it. Your documentation should only be shared with the Student Access & Disability Services (SDS) Office.

Once you’ve requested your accommodation letters through the SDS Office, your instructors will automatically receive an email outlining your approved accommodations.

We encourage you to follow up with your instructors at the start of each semester to introduce yourself and discuss how your accommodations can best support your learning. This helps build communication and shows that you’re engaged in your course.

Here’s an example of how you might reach out by email:

I look forward to working with you this semester. Thank you for your time and support.

Best regards,
