You cannot be currently enrolled in high school to attend adult education classes. Once a student has completed intake steps outlined below, they will sign up for a time to take a placement test that may take up to five hours. Students will also attend a mandatory orientation at a later date that will last up to two hours before they will be able to complete registration. 

  1. To register for classes to prepare for the High School Equivalency (HSE/GED®), please complete our form to start the process.
  2. Visit the front desk in Building K at 410 Renner Drive in Elgin to complete the intake process. Note: the college is closed on Fridays during the summer.
  3. You must bring a photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, or government-issued ID).
  4. If you are 16 or 17, please bring a separation letter from your high school.
  5. Bring your DHS medical card or LINK card if you receive public assistance. ​
