How do I become a Paramedic?120 views

classes

As with fire service careers, Emergency Medical Service careers are based on education and take place at the ECC Center for Emergency Services in Burlington, Illinois. For questions, please email rtwobulls@elgin.edu

  • The first step of the process is to complete the Emergency Medical Responder course or the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course. The EMT course is a prerequisite course for the Paramedic program of courses.
  • After gaining six months of experience as an EMT, students are eligible to apply for the Paramedic program. ECC offers two Paramedic programs, Advocate Sherman Hospital (Elgin) and Ascension St. Joseph Hospital (Elgin).
  • The Paramedic program is a combination of five courses over one year (Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters)
