How do I enroll in Illinois High School Diploma preparatory classes?181 views

  1. Please complete our registration form to start registering for classes to prepare for the Illinois High School Diploma (HSE/GED®).
  2. Then come to the front desk in Building K at 410 Renner Drive in Elgin to complete the intake process. Keep in mind; the college is closed on Fridays during the summer.
  3. You must bring a photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, or government-issued ID). If you are 16 or 17, please bring a separation letter from your high school. Bring your DHS medical card or LINK card if you receive public assistance. You cannot be currently enrolled in high school to attend adult education classes.
  4. Once a student has completed intake, they will sign up for a time to take a placement test that may take up to five hours.
  5. Students will also attend a mandatory orientation later that will last up to two hours before they can complete registration. Call 847-214-6904 or email ABECRegistration@elgin.edu if you have any questions.
